ROBERT L. MEYERS
is from Houston, Texas where he
graduated from Spring Woods High
School. He attended
undergraduate school at Baylor
University, receiving a B.A.
degree in History. He is a 1980
graduate with a J.D. degree from
Baylor University School of Law.
Robert served as an assistant
city attorney for the City of
Waco from 1980-1986 where he
worked primarily in the area of
ad valorem taxation. His duties
included the supervision of the
collection of taxes for the City
of Waco and the Waco Independent
School District as well as
representing the City in
establishment and operation of
Tax Increment Financing
Districts and Tax Abatement
Districts.
Robert joined
McCreary, Veselka, Bragg & Allen
on January 1, 1987. Robert as
the attorney managing the Waco
office represents various school
districts, cities, counties and
special districts in the
collection of taxes. He also
represents several appraisal
districts in Central Texas.
He is a
frequent speaker for the Texas
Association of Appraisal
Districts, Texas Association of
Assessing Officers, Tax
Assessor-Collector Association
and Texas Rural Chief
Appraisers. Robert is a
certified instructor by the
Board of Tax Professional
Examiners and has taught tax
courses throughout the State.
Robert is a
member of the State Bar of Texas
and practices before the trial
and appellate courts of this
State. He is also a member of
the State Bar of Texas Committee
on Ad Valorem Taxation, and a
past member of the Committee on
Professionalism. He is licensed
in Federal Court where he has
litigated cases concerning the
appraisal of property for ad
valorem taxation.
