JOHN O'CONNELL joined MVBA in July 2007. John is the managing attorney in our Abilene office. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Taylor County Bar Association, and Abilene Young Lawyers Association.

John was born in Columbus, Georgia and and attended high school in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He entered the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1994 and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in 1998. Following graduation, John was commissioned as a Second Lieutentant in the Infantry and assigned to the Second Battalion, Eighth Infantry Regiment, in which he served as a rifle platoon leader and battalion adjutant. John is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, during which he was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.

John graduated from the Baylor University School of Law in 2006, concentrating in general civil litigation. Prior to joining MVBA, he practiced in the litigation section of the Abilene law firm, McMahon Surovik & Suttle, and served as the Associate General Counsel for Frac Tech Services, a Cisco, Texas-based oil-well stimulation company.
