PROPERTY VALUE STUDY APPEALS
MVBA is pleased to provide an additional service to both our school district and appraisal district clients with the review and, if necessary, the appeal of the annual State Comptroller’s Property Value Study. The Comptroller conducts an annual study of each school district’s property values to determine if a school district is appraising property at market value. Should the Comptroller find that a school district’s property is not appraised at the fair market value, it “invalidates” the district’s local value and substitutes its estimate of the district’s value, “state value”, and certifies that value to the Texas Education Agency for purposes of state funding. A district’s assignment of ‘State Value’ can mean a significant loss in state funding for the affected school district.
To minimize or avoid any loss in state funding,
MVBA’s experienced team of value study professionals can represent your district in the entire appeals process. Our experienced staff utilizes the latest techniques in the formation and presentation of each appeal.
MVBA will monitor the progress of each appeal and will represent the school district or appraisal district at informal and/or formal hearings with Property Tax Division personnel. Throughout the entire appeal process,
MVBA will maintain communication with the client as to the status of the appeal and provide periodic updates to ensure that our actions remain reflective of the client's concerns.
